Accident and Incident Awareness

This 3-hour course provides essential knowledge on identifying, reporting, and managing accidents and incidents in the workplace. Participants will learn to recognise potential hazards, understand legal responsibilities, and implement effective reporting procedures to ensure safety and compliance.

Course Contents

  • Legislation and Regulations: Understanding the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER). 

  • Types of Abrasive Wheels: Identifying different wheels and their specific uses. 

  • Safe Handling and Storage: Best practices to maintain the integrity of wheels. 

  • Inspection and Maintenance: Pre-use checks, identifying defects, and ensuring operational safety. 

  • Mounting and Dismounting: Step-by-step procedures for secure and safe mounting. 

  • Hazards and Controls: Common risks and how to mitigate them. 

  • Practical Demonstration: Hands-on training to reinforce safety practices. 

Assessment

Assessment is on-going by the instructor, culminating with a multiple choice question paper.

Duration

The course requires a minimum of 3 hours, distributed over the day. 

Certification Validity 

This qualification has no formal expiry, however regular CPD and updates are recommended.

A maximum of 12 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 16 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.
