The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an ideal qualification for individuals looking to begin a career in teaching or training in further education or the workplace. 


This course equips learners with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to design, deliver, and assess effective training sessions. Covering the key principles of teaching, learning, and assessment, this qualification is suitable for those who wish to teach in a wide range of settings, including colleges, adult learning centers, or in a workplace training role. 


The course is designed to be accessible to both experienced trainers looking to formalise their qualifications and newcomers to teaching. 


Learners will gain a solid understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher, as well as strategies for creating an inclusive, learner-centered environment. 

Course Contents

Course Contents for Level 3 Award in Education and Training The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is designed to introduce aspiring teachers and trainers to the principles of education and provide them with the core skills needed to deliver effective teaching and training. 


The course content covers the basics of teaching roles, planning and delivery of lessons, understanding learners' needs, assessment methods, and creating inclusive learning environments. 


Unit 1: Understanding Roles, Responsibilities, and Relationships in Education and Training The Role of a Teacher/Trainer Key responsibilities of a teacher or trainer in various settings (e.g., colleges, workplaces). Legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities. Professional Relationships Building effective relationships with learners, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Understanding boundaries and maintaining professionalism in the classroom. Supporting Learners Understanding the importance of support, guidance, and feedback for learners. Methods to foster positive learning relationships. Teacher/Trainer Boundaries and Ethical Practice Setting clear boundaries and managing the teacher-learner relationship. Promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the learning environment. 


Unit 2: Planning and Delivering Education and Training Planning a Learning Session How to develop effective lesson plans and schemes of work that meet learner needs. Setting clear, measurable learning objectives. Selecting appropriate learning resources, including digital tools. Delivery Methods Understanding a range of delivery methods (e.g., lectures, discussions, group work, practical activities). Incorporating active learning strategies to engage learners. Adapting teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities. Managing the Learning Environment Creating a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment. Managing classroom behavior and promoting effective participation. Using Technology in Teaching and Training Incorporating multimedia, digital tools, and resources to enhance learning. Best practices for virtual teaching and blended learning. 


Unit 3: Understanding and Meeting the Needs of Learners Identifying Learner Needs Understanding diverse learner characteristics, including age, experience, and background. Identifying and addressing individual learning needs (e.g., language barriers, learning disabilities). Creating Inclusive Learning Environments Strategies for ensuring all learners are included and engaged in the learning process. Differentiating instruction to support learners at various levels of ability. Encouraging Learner Motivation and Participation Techniques for motivating learners and encouraging active engagement. Building learners’ confidence and fostering a growth mindset. 


Unit 4: Assessment in Education and Training Principles of Assessment The role and purpose of assessment in the learning process. Understanding formative (ongoing) and summative (final) assessments. Assessment Methods Overview of assessment methods: questioning, projects, assignments, practical activities, and exams. How to select appropriate assessment methods based on learning objectives. Providing Feedback Techniques for giving constructive feedback that supports learner development. Strategies for self-assessment and peer assessment. Record Keeping and Documentation How to document assessment outcomes and track learner progress. Understanding the role of assessment in reporting and qualification awards. 


Unit 5: Creating an Inclusive Learning Environment Equality and Diversity in Education Understanding the importance of equality and diversity in education and training. Promoting respect for diversity in the classroom and addressing stereotypes. Supporting Learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) Recognizing learners with additional needs and providing appropriate support. Developing strategies to ensure all learners have equal access to learning opportunities. Adapting Learning Activities Adjusting content, resources, and delivery methods to support learners with varying needs. Creating accessible learning materials for diverse learners.


Unit 6: Reflecting on and Improving Teaching Practice The Importance of Reflection Understanding the role of reflection in improving teaching practice. Techniques for self-reflection, including journaling, peer observation, and feedback. Professional Development Identifying areas for improvement and setting goals for professional growth. Engaging in continuous professional development (CPD) to enhance teaching skills. Evaluating Your Teaching Methods for evaluating the effectiveness of teaching sessions. Assessment

To complete this course, learners must pass the micro teach and workbooks. The cost of both the exam and project are already included in the cost of the course. Practical assessment – There is 1 practical assessment for this qualification. Learners must be involved in at least 1 hour of micro-teaching. 3 x Learner workbooks.

Duration

The course requires a minimum of 35 hours, distributed over 5 days. While it is ideal to complete the course in five consecutive days, we can adjust the schedule to suit your specific needs, as long as the course is completed within 12 weeks of starting and each training session lasts at least 7 hours.

Certification Validity 

This qualification has no formal expiry, however regular CPD and updates are recommended.

A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
