Course Summary

FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency Outdoor First Aid (RQF)

This one-day emergency outdoor first aid qualification is designed for people who are involved in outdoor activities or work in rural locations. The course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way, particularly where professional medical help is not immediately available. 


It will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations including summoning assistance, responding to changes in vital signs, administering CPR and blood loss. The qualification meets the requirements of the Institute for Outdoor Learning band 2 training.

  • Disorders of respiration 

  • Wounds and bleeding 

  • Hypovolaemic shock

Assessment

The instructor conducts ongoing summative practical assessments and written assessments. Upon successful completion, learners will receive regulated qualification. No external assessments are required for this qualification.

Duration

The course requires a minimum of 6 hours, distributed over the day. While it is ideal to complete the course in one day, we can adjust the schedule to suit your specific needs, as long as the course is completed within 3 weeks of starting and each training session lasts at least two hours.

Certification Validity 

This qualification is valid for three years. To renew it, learners must complete the course again. It is recommended that learners attend annual refresher courses during the three-year period.
