Course Summary

Qualsafe Level 4 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF)

The Qualsafe Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised prehospital care qualification specifically designed for those looking to progress their career within the NHS or independent ambulance services as an emergency care assistant, intermediate ambulance practitioner, or event medical provider. 


It is also ideal for those who are looking to work within specialist roles in the military, police and fire services. Following on from the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), this qualification provides learners with a wider scope of practice in prehospital care emergencies and also forms part of a progressive suite of prehospital care qualifications.

  • Mechanisms of injury and kinetics 

  • Triage 

  • Sexual assault 

  • Major incidents 

  • Psychosocial development in children 

  • Emergency care for sick and injured children 

  • Mental health crisis 

  • Assisting the clinician with clinical interventions

Assessment

The instructor conducts ongoing summative practical assessments and written assessments. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a three-year Level 4 Award in First Response Emergency Care. No external assessments are required for this qualification.

Duration

The course requires a minimum of 35 hours, distributed over at least five days. While it is ideal to complete the course over five consecutive days, we can adjust the schedule to suit your specific needs, as long as the course is completed within 10 weeks of starting and each training session lasts at least two hours.

Certification Validity 

This qualification has no formal expiry, however, once achieved this qualification is valid while the Learner maintains a CPD portfolio and has attended annual refresher training. Training should include the assessment and treatment of cardiorespiratory arrest and lifethreatening injury/illness. This may include an Immediate Life Support qualification.

The course allows a maximum of 6 students, all of whom must be at least 18 years old. Certificates can be issued to all students who meet the assessment criteria.
