NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a widely recognised qualification designed for individuals seeking a solid foundation in workplace health and safety. Ideal for managers, supervisors, and employees, this course equips participants with practical knowledge to identify and control workplace risks effectively while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Course Contents

NG1 - consists of four elements: 

  • Why we should manage workplace H&S. 

  • How H&S Management systems work and what they look like. 

  • Managing Risk - Understanding people and processes. 

  • H&S Monitoring and measuring. 

NG2 - consits of seven Elements, they look at specific hazards or different Hazard categories and the practical control of the risks created by these hazards.

Assessment

Assessment is a two-step process: NG1 - An open book examination to assess what you know. This is scenario based and will include a closing interview, you will be asked questions about your submission. NG2 - A practical risk assessment to assess what you can do (3 hours). Learners will complete a risk assessment and develop an action plan for their workplace – this is immediately useful and valuable.

Duration

This course requires a minimum of 68 taught hours, 40 recommended self-study hours. This should take a minimum of 10 days but can be changed to suit your needs.

Certification Validity 

This qualification has no formal expiry, however regular CPD and updates are recommended.

A maximum of 12 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 16 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.
