Course Summary
FAA Level 3 Award in Oxygen Therapy Administration (RQF)
Delegates will learn how and when to administer oxygen to a casualty and the safety concerns with carrying, storing and administering it.
This course is suitable for qualified First Aiders, Emergency First Aiders, dental practitioners and dental care professionals, nurses, healthcare professionals and others working in an environment where oxygen is available for casualty welfare.





Course Contents
Explain benefits of oxygen therapy Identify indications for the use of oxygen
Explain contraindications prohibiting use of oxygen
Explain dangers of using compressed gas
Outline health and safety rules for the:
Use
Storage
Handling of oxygen
Carry out operational checks in preparation for use of oxygen therapy equipment Identify when oxygen therapy is required
Administer oxygen using the required flow rate for the following oxygen delivery devices: Non re-breather mask Bag, valve and mask
Administer oxygen to a patient in line with agreed ways of working

Assessment
The instructor conducts ongoing summative practical assessments and written assessments. Upon successful completion, learners will receive regulated qualification. No external assessments are required for this qualification.
Duration
The course requires a minimum of 6 hours, distributed over the day. While it is ideal to complete the course in one day, we can adjust the schedule to suit your specific needs, as long as the course is completed within 3 weeks of starting and each training session lasts at least two hours.

Certification Validity
This qualification is valid for three years. To renew it, learners must complete the course again. It is recommended that learners attend annual refresher courses during the three-year period.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
