This is an excellent introduction to health and safety in the workplace and will benefit all employees, particularly those who may be accepting a health and safety role, such as a safety representative within their organisation. Successful candidates will be awarded a national Level 2 (Level 5 in Scotland) qualification which will provide an ideal platform to higher level training or career development.

Certification
The qualification is assessed by a written assessment.
A learner must successfully pass the written assessment to achieve the qualification. There is no grading of the assessment; learners pass or are referred.
The learner will complete a written assessment paper containing 20 multiple choice questions needing to achieve a minimum of 15 out of 20 to pass. The duration of the assessment is 40 minutes. An example question is ‘How can hazardous substances be identified?’
The qualification does not have an expiry date but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital.
Duration
A minimum of six contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities, plus some pre-course activity could be required. Ideally, the course should be run over one day, but can be spread over a longer time period if you so desire, providing it is completed within 3 weeks of starting the course and the training sessions last for a minimum of two hours.
