Moving and Handling People
Our Moving and Handling People course is an essential training program tailored for healthcare, social care, and support professionals who regularly assist individuals with mobility needs. Through a combination of hands-on practice and theoretical learning, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of safe and effective moving and handling techniques, designed to minimize injury risks for both the caregiver and the individual being assisted.
The course covers a range of key skills, including safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and assisting individuals with limited mobility, as well as the proper use of various mobility aids and equipment, such as hoists, slide sheets, and transfer boards. Certification
This is achieved by on-going theoretical teaching, culminating with a written assessment.
This qualification does not expire, but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies and procedures is vital to keep the qualification current.
Duration
A minimum of three contact hours, consisting of practical and theoretical activities, plus some pre-course activity could be required. Ideally, the course should be run over one day, but can be spread over a longer time period if you so desire, providing it is completed within 3 weeks of starting the course and the training sessions last for a minimum of one hour.
